A change at the helm of Moncton Industrial Development
Mike Mann, President of the Board of Directors of Moncton Industrial Development (MID) today announced a change of leadership in the organization. Effective May 15, Peter Belliveau will retire as General Manager.
"Peter has guided MID through significant change in the 30 years he spent with the organization," said Mann. "His leadership was critical in helping Moncton become the economic leader in New Brunswick. His innovative approach and dedication to industrial development in our city are truly unsurpassed."
MID was established in 1959 as a joint partnership of the City of Moncton and the Chamber of Commerce. Its goal is to promote industrial development through the establishment and development of industrial parks.
"Moncton is certainly a different community from when I started with MID in 1984," said Belliveau. "At the time Moncton was going through major economic transition but Monctonians and local business leaders never gave up. We knew we had a lot to offer and we were right."
Today MID owns and operates three industrial parks within the city area - the Moncton Industrial Park, Moncton Industrial Park West and Caledonia Industrial Estates. Growth has been solid with new developments in both Caledonia Industrial Estates and Moncton Industrial Park West. The Board also announced the incoming General Manger will be Pierre Dupuis. For the past four years Dupuis has been General Manager of ExpansionDieppe.
"We are pleased we were able to find someone locally that has solid experience in industrial development in this market," said Mann. "There could not be a better fit for our organization as we continue to build on our past successes."
Dupuis has a Master of Public Administration Degree from Université de Moncton (U de M) and a Master of Urban and Rural Planning from the Tech University of NS (TUNS). He has held various positions in economic development as well as running his own businesses.
"Having run my own businesses gives me great insight into what business owners are looking for," said Dupuis. "Whether it's an outside company wanting to expand in Moncton or a local business looking to grow, we can help them. Within our three industrial parks we have a variety of inventory for just about any use."
